           Cactus Tube Dudes of Arizona

Get together.
This meeting was extremely rushed. Everybody had afternoon plans. Breakfast out took much longer than expected.

We met at Chompies and ate breakfast.  While we were there we drew on napkins with a pen provided by my wife. The guys got a real chuckle out of my wife pulling out paper and a pencil for me. I insisted that it was tradition that at least one drawing had to go on a napkin with a pen.  After eating,  we went to my house to listen to my new Edgarhorn Slimlines. These Slimlines have a slightly thicker cabinet in some areas that the ones made in 2001. I ordered them with oil caps in the crossover.

We listened to some tunes on the Slimlines and did some more talking. The HornShoppe horns only appeared for one song. We did not seriously compare the two speakers.

Half way through, we listened to a copy and the original of a CD. This copy was made using the Roxio Platinum Edition software with one CDR on the primary IDE controller and the other CDR on the other IDE controller. The copy had a lower noise floor than the original. Please note that copies of CDs were not exchanged! Copies of CDs for the car is a good idea in Arizona. When it is 122 F in the shade and there isn't much shade, anything in the car generally becomes a molten mess.

At the end we played with my Foreplay Headphone amp. The output transformer plugged into the converted Foreplay's outputs. This way we could compare the Sowter transformer to the Edcor and compare Parafeed returned to ground to Parafeed returned to the cathodes. The Nickel Sowters were definitely better than the iron Edcors. The difference between the Parafeeds was a harder choice.
